Our bakery is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Our kitchen serves food between 9.30am until 2.30pm). Whether you’re looking for a morning coffee, a hearty loaf of sourdough, or a sweet indulgence, we’re here to make your day a little brighter and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Where to find us
You’ll find us just a pleasant stroll along the towpath outside Slaithwaite, heading towards
Marsden. We’re nestled beside the picturesque canal side and located in an historic mill building.

How to get here
By Car:
From the M62 motorway, take Junction 24 and follow signs for Huddersfield/Slaithwaite. Once in Slaithwaite, head towards the village centre and look for Canal Side. Parking is available at New Street Car Park, where the first 2 hours are free, with charges applying after that. For longer visits, Carr Lane and Old Bank car parks offer free parking and are just a short walk from The Handmade Bakery. We recommend checking local parking signs or the Kirklees Council website for up-to-date information.
By Public Transport:
Train: Slaithwaite train station is less than a 5-minute walk from the bakery. Direct trains run hourly to and from Manchester Piccadilly, with a journey time of approximately 33 minutes. Upon exiting the station, head towards the village centre and follow signs to Canal Side.
Bus: Several bus routes serve Slaithwaite, including the 394 and 184 services. The bakery is located near two main bus stops in the village centre.
By Bike
The Handmade Bakery is bike-friendly and easily accessible via the Huddersfield Narrow Canal towpath, offering a scenic and traffic-free cycling route.
On Foot:
If you’re exploring Slaithwaite on foot, the bakery is conveniently situated along the canal towpath, making it an ideal stop during a leisurely walk. From the village centre, follow the signs towards Canal Side heading towards Marsden; the bakery is just a short distance along the towpath.
