The Handmade Bakery (HMB) is a not for profit community supported artisan bakery in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. We are a workers co-operative, owned and run by our members. It consists of a flourishing bakery producing 1800 loaves of real bread and patisserie each week, all made using traditional slow fermentation processes. Established in 2009, we moved to our present canal side premises in 2012 adding a vibrant contemporary café space. After a substantial period of growth, we are now looking for a driver and ambassador to deliver our bread to existing and new wholesale customers.
The job(s) will include-
Delivering delicious artisan bread to wholesale customers (including driving to Uppermill and Chorlton) and driving to, and setting up at local markets in a small van.
Serving customers and handling cash.
Days may include Wednesday-Saturday for a few hours each day. It is likely that as we develop the business the hours, alongside your involvement may increase.
The role we are looking to fill depends on the applicant.
You must be-
Over 25 years old with a full, clean, UK driving licence.
Be Flexible regarding working hours/rota.
Physically strong and fit as you will need to be able to lift and carry crates of bread.
Be interested in, and have an understanding of working as part of a co-operative business.
Have excellent customer service skills
Enjoy meeting customers and have good interpersonal skills.
Be responsible for handling money.
Have a passion for our products, a willingness to learn about our philosophy and products so you are able to confidently answer any customer questions.
Working co-operatively as part of a friendly team.
Competitive rate of pay: £8.25 per hour.
